Have you ever felt like your voice hit a "glass ceiling"?
I remember that day like it was yesterday. I stood before the microphone, full of hope, and only... a squeak came out of my throat. A tight throat, pain, shame. I felt I had emotions I wanted to scream, to sing, but my instrument refused to obey.
I heard: "Aga, just sing from your diaphragm".
I heard: "You need to relax more".
But no one told me HOW to do it. Everyone talked about "talent". And I felt I didn't have it.
"Singing is not magic. It's a skill that can be learned."
And then I discovered the secret...
I didn't give up. My determination led me to the best teachers in the world. I came across Speech Level Singing (SLS) and Institute for Vocal Advancement (IVA) techniques.
I learned from the master himself – Seth Riggs (Michael Jackson's coach). And then it dawned on me. I understood that it was a specific laryngeal position. It was the balance between air and muscles.
